Day 5, October 14, 2008

What a busy day we had! Didn't get very far though. Lots to see and very icy steep roads. It was 17 degrees cold. The first destination was Old Faithful. There were not that many people and it was very cold. He went off at 10:07 a.m. The kids really liked the sight of the steam shooting up in the sky. We then went to the Artist Point which shows the pretty waterfalls drop over the cliffs and the beautiful orange and white rocks. We also saw many geysers. On the wild side, we saw an elk bull up close and several buffalo even crossing the road in front of us. It was very beautiful scenery. The kids really enjoyed seeing this place for the first time. On Hwy 14 we went over Avalanche Peak. Very, very slippery. We were all very quiet as went over the pass. Very steep going down, we were in first gear. We sadly saw a deer buck that was sitting on the side of the road, as he had just been hit. The rangers were on the way to help him. We continued to Cody, Wyoming where we stopped at the Buffalo Bill Muesum. It was very nice. Alot of history here. It had several parts to it from indians, to the 5,200 old guns, Wild Bill Cody's history and an animal section. It was somewhat disappointing that modern day history leaves the truth of God's creation out. We have been using a daily devotional that uses road signs as means of the teachings. It has been really neat. So as we see the road signs we reflect the devotion of the day. Thank you all for the wonderful comments we have received the past few days. We are honored that so many of our family and friends have expressed such an interest in our trip.

Hello Knisleys', It really looks like you found lots of exciting things to see. All of them look cold! We sure do miss your bright smiles here in Nevada. It looks like you all are smiling everywhere you go though. Is it warming up at all as you go? We knew that you would find a church on sunday. We send you all of our love and prayers. Please keep the pictures and updates coming! What a blessing they are! Love, Dad and Mom Gunn
