Day 11, October 19, 2008

Another day gone by. We stayed in Fort Dodge, Iowa. There are many wind generator farms between Fort Dodge and Iowa Falls. We left there and headed on Hwy 20 east in search for a Christian church to fellowship at. We found one in Iowa Falls, Iowa. It was an evangelical free church. It was a wonderful experience. Pastor Gordon Bakan gave a wonderful message coming from Ephesians 6:1-4. The message for the children was to obey your parents and honor them. The message for the dads (parents) was to grow them up in the Lord and not frustrate them continually. A wonderful message and good timing to be able to apply it in the cab of our 6 door pickup. It was humbling for Dan and I as we check our attitudes. What a wonderful God we have knowing what His children need to hear. Our spiritual tanks were running a little low, and the Lord really fed us there. Afterwards, we were able to meet and visit with some of the congregation. They just happened to be having a lunch afterwards, so we were able to fellowship with them even more. It was very nice to meet these brothers and sisters. A man named Jerry ushered us in. We also met a man named Dewey and his family, Ralph, Ron Allen, Lynn Lee, Chris Jess, Don and Jen and several others. Some of them were farmers in the area and others worked in town. One man was a Nebraska football fan. We were very encouraged when we left there. Mallory enjoyed playing with some little girls on the swings afterwards. Everyone was very welcoming. We saw more corn and soybean farms. We also saw many "deer" crossing warning signs. We wondered which "deere" we were supposed to be watching out for. The green ones or brown ones. In Parkersburg, Iowa we were shocked to see the debris left from a current tornado! We saw house and house that was tore up or tore down to the foundation. Road signs and power poles that were mangled. Also, it reminded me that a lady at church this morning noted that some people in the area were victims of a recent flood. Wow! We headed east on some country roads above Hwy 20 towards Waterloo. We then hit Hwy 63 to Minnesota. We couldn't tour the John Deere Factory as we found out they won't allow any children under 13 years old. So we didn't go to Waterloo, we headed north towards Minnesota and Wisconsin. We stopped for the last time in Iowa at a McDonalds for a pitstop and ice cream. We then headed to Rochester, MN. MOUNTAINS. There were actually mountains there. What a wonderful site!! We went to an apple stand and met Jerry and Levi Kathans. We bought some very sweet apples from their orchards in Minnesota. We then decided we didn't want to stay there. We wanted to cross the Mississippi. What an awesome view. We headed south on Hwy 61 from La Crosse and ended up finding a place to stay in Viroqua, Wisconsin. Oh, as you can see, we entered Wisconsin!!!! Three states in a day!! Looking forward to what the Lord has for us today.

Dear Knisleys', It is so amazing the different landscapes and sites you are seeing. It is also amazing the sweet faces you are seeing along the way. The people that you meet are seeing sweet faces too!!(YOURS) We never realized that mountains were so important!? The place where you saw the tornado, Dan, we thought was an auction yard! Just kidding! We are so glad that you are having such a great time. Love From "Nevada Grandparents!"
