Day 4, October 12, 2008

Today is Sunday the Lord's day!! We woke up to 2 inches of fresh snow. We were looking for a church to attend today but didn't find one in Butte, so we headed south towards Yellowstone, praying the Lord would show us where He wanted us to worship. We got on Hwy 90 East headed towards Bozman. We had a leading to turn on Hwy 287 south towards Yellowstone. What a wonderful adventure that was. There was so much snow and ice on the road, at times you couldn't see the road and it ended up to being a one lane road!! See the truck coming? Grandpa Gunn would have really rubbed his head and in fact, probably would have turned back!!! We saw a really big cave that was labled part of Lewis & Clark's spot. We were very grateful to get behind a snow plow truck. Our trailer and truck were so icy. We saw Wade Lake. We just had to stop for a picture of that and Wade. Wade had to lean as the wind was blowing so hard his hat wouldn't stay on. Continuing down through Harrison and Norris, Montana, we came to Ennis, Montana and the kids yelled "Look at the white cross!". We pulled over just in time for worship service at 10:30 their time. A man named Howard was a nice christian man that greeted as we arrived. He said we made it just in time. It was a nice Baptist church that the Lord was growing. They were adding on to the church. We then met a lady named Linda Schott and the Hamilton family, Ted, Bonnie, Ryan and Theron. Another lady named Linda was from Pennsylvania and gave us some ideas of places to see. Lord willing we get there. It was a wonderful message about God's Holy Spirit indwelling the believer. As you can see by the pictures, we forgot take pictures there and we ended up seeing much of the church at a nearby supermarket and took some pictures of them there!! We were buying things to make sandwiches for lunch. We then left Ennis heading south on Hwy 287 following the Madison River. What beautiful Montana country. Lots of rivers, trees, rolling hills and cattle ranches. We arrived at the Madison river earthquake area where an earthquake actually caused a lake to form from a slide triggered by the earthquake. The water level was so high, that alot of pine trees died in the water and were still standing up in the middle of the lake. Then we went by Grayling Lake and ended up in West Yellowstone National Park. So far here, we were able to watch an Imax movie on the history of Yellowstone and a really neat movie about Lewis and Clark's expedition. That was a very interesting movie. They went through alot of hardship, but suceeded. We are truly grateful for the answered prayers of safety. Today was a very slippery journey.

Hi there Knisley's, one of the most beautiful sights of our past travels was driving from Bozeman to Yellowstone. Wow! That had to be one of the prettiest sights we saw in all of our trips. We are so happy for you being able to travel like this. We had a great day at church; and today (Monday) I was able to talk to a young man about being baptized!! We scheduled the last Sun. in Oct. for his baptism. His name is Tyler Diaz. Also,so glad you were able to see the Zug's, I miss them! What a blessing! Take care, love you and miss you, Pastor Woody

Hello Knisley Crew! I'm so glad I checked out your blog this evening! I must tell you that your family has been such a positive Christian influence to us since the first service we went to as a family at Parkside and to this day you have continued to inspire us! We're so thankful for you all and how you dedicate yourselves daily to glorifying Christ! Thanks for being you and lifting us up once again!

We're so happy that you are seeing so much of God's amazing creation and I'm sure you echo our feelings when we traveled through that area of wonder at anyone that can't see His hand in all of that beauty!! Thaine said he suggested you check out Crazy Horse and I fully agree! What a wonderful stop along the way! I don't know if he told you or not but if you happen to go through Missouri, be sure to call us so we can put you in touch with my parents! They'd love to have you and could use the uplifting themselves!

Be safe and we look forward to sharing in more of your trip!!

In His love,
Thaine and Kari Ernst
