Day 19, October 27, 2008

We left Denham and headed on Hwy 95 south. We stayed on Hwy 95 all the way through, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. Hwy 95 was a very busy highway full of trees and cities. If we didn't see cities we saw trees and if we didn't see trees we saw cities. We went over several bridges and toll roads. The George Washington Bridge was amazing. We saw some ships and even a submarine. There was a semi at a fuel station we went at with all sorts of Christian signs on his truck. Pretty neat testimony. An airplane was starting to land next to the freeway. Also a type of loader was trimming trees on the sides of the freeway. It started raining as we entered New York. New York City was very big, as far as your eyes could see. It was about 55 degrees and smelled so good. There is nothing like fresh rain smell. Everyone is fine. Kent turns 8 years old tomorrow, October 28. He is pretty excited. We stopped in North East, Maryland.

Day 18, October 26, 2008

We woke up in Manchester, Massachusetts. We looked for some diesel and met the mayor at the gas station. As we were leaving the parking lot we spotted a sign for a christian church. We made it just in time for the services. The message was about missions. How we, as a church, need to support missions in prayer, doing or financially. As the news lately focuses so much on the stock market and grieves us all, the pastor noted that God is in control and is not affected by the stock market. He said "heaven is not bankrupt". Isn't that a true statement to help us change our focus on the country's financial situation? The church is a huge supporter of homeschooling. They have over 300 homeschoolers they support and allow to use the church for teaching in classrooms with parent-teachers. They are also in the beginning stages of making a place in Manchester for street kids ministry. We met the pastor, Garry Hamilton, the associate pastor David Donati and the youth pastor Matthew Ellis. We also met Wally Woodman and his wife. He needs our prayers and this week he is going to have surgery for prostrate cancer. We then left there on Hwy 101 towards Maine. Maine!!! We made it to Maine!!! We have gone 4,221 miles so far. We found York Village and walked the beach. We touched the Atlantic ocean!! It was beautiful. We went on the rocks looking for shells and other treasures and then walked in the village. It was a neat experience. After about 2 hours, we headed south on Hwy 1 to Hwy 95 south to Dedham, Massachusetts where we stopped. We were in 3 states in one day. New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts. We are now trying to plan the next move. May the Lord continue to guide us.

Day 17, October 25, 2008

We were able to meet up with our dear brother and sister and their family in Plattsburg, New York. We had a wonderful time of fellowship with the Stefanini Family. They met us in Plattsburg and we had dinner together. So much laughter. We then stayed in the same hotel so we could fellowship some more. Dan and John grew up together in Lovelock. Around 1984 he and Dan made their commitments to follow Christ about the same time. As we were getting ready to leave, John suggested that we cross the lake by boat to Vermont. It would save alot of travel time. So we left Plattsburg by ferry!! That's right by way of a boat!! It was amazing. They had no problem letting us on with our trailer. A semi even boarded when we did. It was a very neat. It was raining but we still wanted to go up on the deck of the boat. We were the first truck to get on. There were white caps from the wind and rain. It was so awesome. The trip was about 15 minutes. The kids were excited to watch us in the middle of Lake Champlain. We then headed south east on Hwy 2 in Vermont to the 89 towards Manchester, New Hampshire. We ended up staying there. Vermont and New Hamshire had many beautiful red, orange and yellow trees. Vermont had many, many american flags on the sides of the road. Hopefully today we will find a church to worship the Lord, make it to Maine, then head south. All of our family says hello and we miss everyone.
