Day 22, October 30, 2008

Leaving Clarksburg, West Virginia we continued west on Hwy 50. In Parkersburg and Ohio we started getting into fog from the Ohio River. We saw many beautiful horse ranches. Very fancy rock walls and pine tree fences. We are in Kentucky!! Kent is especially excited. He's ready for Kentucky Fried Chicken! We passed a truck hauling hard wood logs. Leighton and Dan washed the pickup and trailer at the car wash. It felt refreshing as we were pretty muddy from the snow storm we went through. We kept seeing trees and trees and trees and windy roads, and trees, and windy roads. We began to see some negative effects this trip is having on Dan. As you can see from the picture, Dan is slipping a little. He hasn't brushed his teeth or shaved in days, his eyes are out of wack and he's not making sense in his speech. I personally believe we have seen too many places that present the evolution of man. Too many state highway signs refer to the towns in millions of years, and that was the straw that broke the camels back. All kidding aside, Tracy could hardly breathe taking these pictures as she was laughing so hard. We are having FUN. Alot of laughter, what other option is there when you are on day 22 in a pickup truck with 7 people? May the Lord guide us as we try to decide which way to go.

Day 21, October 29, 2008

We left Lorton, Virginia on Hwy 50 and headed towards Cincinnati. We spent 2 days on Hwy 50. Many hills, trees. Went through Winchester, West Virginia. Went through the shenandoah valley and mountains. Rock buildings and rock walls. Beautiful drive. Lots of grassy hills. We ended up at Clarksburg, West Virginia at a hotel that was owned by Christians. They had Bibles open on tables in the lobby and the rooms. They had a gospel track like leaflet in the room. It was very neat. Praying for Kent's cold to get better and Wade to catch up in school. One of our school laptops died. So we are down to one now for the boys school, the blog, weather, and store business. We know the Lord will help us get it all done.

Day 20, October 28, 2008

We stayed in North East, Maryland. Happy Birthday Kent!!! Due to a leaky roof, rain and colder temperatures, we celebrated Kent's 8th birthday in the hotel room. We had a great time. It was a rainy day. Smelled so good. We headed to Washington D.C. We were able to see the state capital. Many things were closed for the preparations and construction for the inaugeration for the next president. There was even a "John Deere" there! We saw George Washington and Lincoln memorials. We toured the Smithsonian Museum also. It was a very cold and windy day. We saw the White House and Jefferson memorial at a distance. A long day of walking. Alot of neat things to see. We then pointed the 6 door to Nevada!! As we left, we saw many big buildings and went through several tunnels. We made it to Lanton, Virginia.
